On Friday night (January 31), a host of musicians paid tribute to the Grateful Dead at the 2025 MusiCares Persons of the Year Gala at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This year’s event also raised funds for victims of the Los Angeles fires, including music industry professionals who lost their recording studios, instruments, and equipment in the blaze. The gala was hosted by Bravo’s Andy Cohen, and featured performances by John Mayer, Billy Strings, Zac Brown, My Morning Jacket, Mick Fleetwood, Stewart Copeland, the War and Treaty, and more, all  celebrating the iconic rock band’s 60th anniversary. Grateful Dead representatives, including guitarist Bob Weir and drummer Mickey Hart, along with special guests like Jerry Garcia‘s daughter, Trixie, and Phil Lesh’s son, Grahame, were all in attendance, with actor Woody Harrelson presenting Hart and Weir with their award. The event showcased inventive interpretations of the Grateful Dead’s music in a series of memorable musical tributes that ultimately raised money for a worthy cause. (Billboard)
