On Monday (April 7), Metallica announced that they have partnered with the American Red Cross on their upcoming M72 World Tour to encourage fans to donate blood at selected tour stops during this spring and summer. Organized by the band’s All Within My Hands foundation, fans can donate blood in exchange for a limited-edition t-shirt “while the M72 crew builds the stage” the day before the scheduled shows. The blood drives will take place at select stadium shows on the tour, including cities such as Philadelphia, Atlanta, Houston, and Denver. The band’s initiative has been praised by the Red Cross for helping to boost the blood supply during the tour and benefit communities in need, including trauma victims, cancer patients, individuals with sickle cell disease, and new mothers. Metallica will kick off their U.S. tour in Las Vegas at Sick New World on April 12, before the stadium trek starts on April 29 in Nashville, with Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies, Ice Nine Kills, and Limp Bizkit among the opening acts.
