Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder announced a partnership with Major League Baseball on Friday that will have the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres competing annually for the Vedder Cup, while supporting Epidermolysis Bullosa research. The winning team of the six-game series – featuring clubs from Vedder’s former hometown of San Diego and his current home of Seattle – will claim the Vedder Cup, featuring a trophy custom designed by grunge legend. Both clubs will be supporting EB Research Partnership, Eddie and his wife Jill Vedder’s nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for EB, a painful skin disorder. “We are thrilled that we were able to bring the Vedder Cup concept to life in such a fun and impactful way,” said Mariners executive Trevor Gooby in a press release.

Vedder, meanwhile, joined Jack White onstage during the former White Stripes’ frontman’s show in Tokyo on Saturday (March 15). The two rock icons joined forces to cover Neil Young’s classic anthem, “Rockin’ in the Free World,” during the encore of White’s headlining set. White wraps up the Japanese leg of his No Name Tour with a second show in Tokyo on Monday (March 17), before his North American leg kicks off in St. Louis on April 3. (Rolling Stone)
