In a new interview with Cassius Morris, Don Dokken reflected about why Dokken’s 2023 album, Heaven Comes Down, will be their last, and how he’s ready to finally retire from performing live due to recent health issues. “I feel after 50 years and 13 records, I figure I’ve written enough music,” Dokken says. “I’m okay with it… [But] never say never.” Dokken did leave open the possibility that “maybe [Dokken guitarist] George Lynch and I will get together and write an EP,” though the singer admitted, “I don’t think I have the energy in me spiritually to knock out a whole record. That’s a lot of work.” While reflecting on his future, the 71-year-old believes he will perform his final live show “probably within the year,” revealing that his right arm became nearly paralyzed following recent neck and spinal surgeries. “The truth is, I guess I’m a selfish person,” Dokken explained. “I wanna enjoy my life. I don’t want to just keep singing and writing until I drop.” (Blabbermouth)
