The Waterboys took to Instagram on Monday (January 6) to announce that their new concept album, Life, Death And Dennis Hopper, is set to be released on April 4 via the legendary Sun Records. While the record’s underlying theme based on the celebrated life of the American actor and industry rebel is enough to get headlines of its own, the Waterboys have enlisted an impressive array of guest stars to appear on the record. Bruce Springsteen, Fiona Apple, Steve Earle, Anana Kaye, Barny Fletcher, Sugarfoot, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, Kathy Valentine of the Go-Go‘s, and Patti Palladin are all featured on the album. The band’s founder and frontman Mike Scott says the concept album “begins in his childhood, ends the morning after his death, and I get to say a whole lot along the way, not just about Dennis, but about the whole strange adventure of being a human soul on planet earth.” The album’s lead single, “Hopper’s On Top (Genius),” is set for release on Friday (December 10).
