While he was in Liverpool, England earlier this week, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong checked out the legendary Cavern Club where the Beatles famously performed 292 times in their early days. While he was there, Armstrong encountered the club’s young resident musician, Callum Mcmorran, covering Green Day’s 1997 quintuple-platinum hit, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” Armstrong was impressed with the effort, recording part of the performance for posterity’s sake. The Cavern Club captured the memorable moment in an Instagram video posted on Wednesday (January 8), captioning the post, “Imagine performing a @greenday song to Billie Joe Armstrong… Well our resident @callummcmorran got to on The Cavern Club front stage. 🤩” Armstrong was clearly on a personal Beatles tour while he was in Liverpool, as the iconic Strawberry Field commented on the Cavern Club’s post to note that, “We were delighted to welcome him to Strawberry Field today too ❤️.” (People)
