In a new interview with People promoting a box set reissue of John Lennon’s 1973 album, Mind Games, his son, Sean Ono Lennon, reflects on growing up with Yoko Ono following the murder of his father when he was only five years old. Sean oversaw the Mind Games project, and he has also taken charge of the management of his family’s artistic legacy following Ono’s retirement from public life. His mother’s distinctive artistic eye influenced the intricate box set as well as the decisions Sean makes in his current role. “She is deeply into cosmic things, to a level that I’ve never seen in anyone else. You could argue that she’s a good witch,” Sean says of Yoko. “My mom is very powerful. She was always very clear about what her opinion was. She showed me that art is conceptual. My philosophy about being creative completely originates with this Yoko mentality of ‘art is conceptual.’ The medium is secondary.” (People)
